The Companion Animal Welfare and Diseases Scholarship is a highly sought-after award that provides financial support to students who are pursuing research in the human/animal bond, companion animal welfare, and/or diseases affecting companion animals.
This scholarship is offered to full-time graduate students who are registered in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and in a department of the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC).

- Be a full-time student in a department of the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC)
- Pursue research in the human/animal bond, companion animal welfare, and/or diseases affecting companion animals
In the first instance, this scholarship will be offered as an entrance award to incoming graduate students. If no suitable entering student is identified, the award may be offered to in-course students who meet the eligibility criteria. Masters students may hold the award up to two times and doctoral students up to three times, with the requirement of annual re-application.
In the event that there is no suitable student recipient, the award may be used to support a postdoctoral fellow in one of the eligible research areas.
The Companion Animal Welfare and Diseases Scholarship offers one award of $13,000, payable over three semesters. This scholarship provides students with a valuable opportunity to further their education and research in the field of companion animal welfare and diseases.
